A Love Story for the Ages: Erin & James's Real Wedding Feature
Indulge in the timeless romance of Erin and James's garden wedding with a string quartet, poolside canapés and can we please take a moment for the flower boy’s suit as we frantically add to cart. Set amongst the woodlands of Sutton Forest NSW and and the Victorian architecture of Somerley House, this wedding oozes old world sophistication fused with modern-chic elegance that will stand the test of time.
This wedding ticks all our boxes in terms of current wedding trends that we are loving right now; scalloped garden umbrellas, abundant hydrangea floral arrangements in sky blue hues, mis-matched bridesmaid bouquets, paper parasols, tulle gloves, fun shaped stationery, bows in abundance and the ultimate party mini dress that we are crushing on!
As we swoon over Erin and James, it's evident that they are the epitome of a modern and unique couple with a flair for elegance. From their initial Tinder match in 2013 to James's romantic proposal on Erin's 30th birthday, in front of 30 of her closest friends, their love story has been nothing short of magical. With James working in secret with Erin's sister to create the perfect engagement, it was a party that will forever be cherished in their hearts.
We catch up with bride Erin, to chat through all the deets for this amazing wedding!

Telling us about your wedding planning process?
“Wedding planning can be stressful, but I tried to tackle it slowly and calmly. I locked in Somerley only 1 month after we got engaged, not intentionally early, but we popped in and once I saw it in real life I knew we had to get married there. I didn’t know anyone else who had, so I loved that it was something different. Standout vendors have to be the caterers The Blonde Butler who are incredibly professional. They organised all of our tables, set them, put down place cards, menus and they work with the best wait staff! I also loved working with Brooke from Two Lovers for our on the day coordination. She was so helpful and it was a blessing having an extra set of hands in the day.”
We’re so glad we…
“Booked Live music! The strings during the ceremony were beautiful and our band were incredible. And poolside canapés, just because why not!?”

“Chewie, our dog also almost lost the rings when walking down the aisle and had everyone on hands and knees looking for them… luckily we found them in the grass along the aisle! It was 60 seconds of sweat right before walking down the aisle.”
Some words of wisdom for other Lovers currently planning their own wedding.
“Have a wet weather option you are happy with, whilst we didn’t need it, I was content with Somerley House back-up option so it took the stress out of checking the weather constantly. Also, invest in an On-the-day-coordinator. You’ll be surprised with the amount of jobs that creep up and if you don’t have help it just means your bridesmaids (and you!) are doing a lot more on the day.”
