Don't forget to allocate these tasks before your big day.

As a Wedding Planner and Coordinator I am asked constantly by couples who are fast approaching their big days “Have I forgotten anything?” or “Is there anything people always forget to do before the day?”. There are always small things that couple forget and most of the time those tasks that get forgotten are actually tasks that the couple have forgotten to allocate. Allocating these tasks prior can ensure you as the couple get to sit back and enjoy the night without your Coordinator or Venue Manager constantly asking you who they should speak to about certain aspects of the night.

Don't forget to allocate these tasks before your big day.

Don’t forget to allocate these tasks before your big day:

Who is responsible for the wishing well contents at the end of the night?

Allocate a trusted friend or family member to collect the wishing well contents at the end of the night and make arrangements for them to get the contents to you or to your wedding night accommodation. I recommend having these with you for the next day so you can reminisce of the day together and read your cards.

Who is handing out petals at your ceremony?

Ask one of your guests to hand out your petals whilst you sign your registry. This is also a task your Coordinator can help with if you are having one. Waiting until the register is being signed will ensure that the petals are not crushed and bruised by the time they are thrown.

Who is the contact for the bar tab?

The bar will want to have an open line to a contact to report how the bar tab is progressing. Choose someone who will be able to efficiently execute your wishes in regards to the bar tab, its limit or if you are open to extending it.

Who is cueing the music during your ceremony?

This may be a performer, the celebrant, a coordinator or a friend. Be sure to brief this person thoroughly so your ceremony is able to run as smoothly as possible.

Who is the go to person to help guests with guest book cameras etc?

Polaroid cameras are infamously tricky for guests to work especially if they are older! Allocate someone to be the go to person for guests to ask for help with these elements.

Who is responsible for breakfast or lunch during bridal and groom prep?

What you and your bridal party are eating on the day before the wedding is so often forgotten. Ask someone to be responsible for organising something to graze on throughout the day.
