Choosing a wedding floor plan is one of the first things you will need to do following booking your venue. Your table or floor plan will dictate your seating plan, florals and styling. Wondering if long tables or round tables are best for you and your wedding? Lovers, we have you covered with our pros and cons list for long vs. round tables for your wedding!
Check with your venue.
Your venue’s capacity and your guest numbers will often dictate the floor plan or type of tables you are able to have. Check with your venue as to their recommended floor plan for your guest numbers.
If you do have the option to select between rounds or long tables, we have a list of pros and cons of both to help you decide!
Round Tables - The Pros.
- Round Tables often require less styling and florals - a pro for your budget but perhaps a con if you were hoping for full lush styling!
- Guests often find round tables better for conversation.
Long Tables - The Pros.
- Long tables are communal, there is a much smaller chance of guests being upset about what table they were put on!
- Long tables have a modern look and allow for dynamic styling options.
- Long tables often seat more guests per table - a pro if you are hiring tables and linen.
Round Tables - The Cons.
- Round tables are often viewed as the more ‘traditional’ option (note: this may also be a pro to some Lovers!)
- Less space for styling and florals.
Long Tables - The Cons.
- It can be harder for guests to converse, especially if sat at the end.
- Getting to your seat can be difficult if you are sitting in the middle of a long table.
- Guests are often sat with a table leg directly in front of them, not the most comfortable.
