International Women's Day

This International Women’s Day we are celebrating the women behind Two Lovers.

Two Lovers Wedding Marketplace Team

Mary Christina CEO and Founder

Mary has been at the forefront of digital innovation since graduating a double degree in Law and Public Relations. She was a part of the team that sent Australia’s first payload to the International Space Station and has worked extensively in the lifestyle arena, integrating innovative consumer technologies for iconic brands.

Mary’s experience as a business consultant helped shape her mind frame to see an opportunity in her challenges to both assist couples planning their weddings and to stimulate the wedding industry. Little did she know that the need to stimulate the wedding industry would become so great one year later with COVID-19 putting so many weddings on hold. Many wedding vendors were out of work for a whole year not sure when their industry would be back in action. Now in 2021 restrictions have lifted and the wedding industry is booming with many of last years’ weddings as well as this years’ going full steam ahead.

Rachel Klooz Co Founder

From a young age Rachel was inspired by her Aunt LeAnna who started her own wedding business, “AnnaLea's Twice Chosen”, in her late twenties when she went through a divorce and had no idea what to do with her wedding dress. She helped other divorced women turn their pain into opportunity and re-sell their wedding dresses, which also allowed for new brides to wear designer dresses at a fraction of the price.

Again, we have a story of a woman being met by a challenge and turning it into an opportunity which is so on point for this years International Women’s Day theme #choosetochallenge.

As well as being the co founder of Two Lovers, Rachel is currently the Head of Search Ads 360 for Google Australia & New Zealand. She’s an absolute superstar in the corporate world, having worked in tech startups in L.A, San Francisco and New York prior to working at Google but has recently been looking to use her skills to create something that she can grow and nurture from small beginnings into something globally successful.

Both women are passionate about driving change through technology & innovation, as well as building high performing teams. The pair are currently building a team of confident and motivated young women to help fuel the growth and success of Two Lovers. This includes three account managers, a marketing manager and a stylist.

Two Lovers don’t see themselves as a wedding company but rather a tech start up. As Mary puts it, “Two Lovers marries innovative tech with the traditional romance of the wedding industry. We connect couples with wedding vendors and give them the opportunity to book, hire and buy, not just browse and enquire”.

This is a vastly different business model to the  many wedding directories that are online across Australia. “Modern wedding couples are smarter than ever before wanting to do everything online from ordering furniture, to booking a holiday, to planning their wedding. Two Lovers solves the pain point of long lead time between inquiring with wedding vendors and booking products and services. You can even hire decor items, celebrants, wedding singers and food trucks on Two Lovers.” Says Rachel.

Women who inspire our founders

Mary

Many women inspire me. We are strong, powerful, beautiful beings who all have incredible stories to tell. I am so lucky to have a team of amazing women at Two Lovers - all of whom inspire me daily with their positive energy, creativity, and problem solving minds. When women stand together and back each other it is incredible what can be achieved.

If I was to choose three women in particular who inspire me each day, it would have to be Whitney Wolfe Herd for her tenacity, clear vision and journey to becoming the youngest female self-made billionaire while raising a 1 year old.

Coco Chanel whose story has had me captivated since I was a girl. The resilience and self belief she must have had to endure the life of an impoverished orphan, start a business in the male dominated world of the 1910’s, and redefine fashion for the modern women in such a bold, iconic way is awe inspiring.

Finally, Jacinda Ardern for her empathetic government that leads by example to tackle issues close to my heart such as climate change and child poverty.

Rachel

Gwenyth Paltrow - constantly reinventing herself, and absolutely as authentic as they come. She shows more of herself than most people do, and she constantly challenges the status quo in order to accomplish what she believes in

Natalia Benson - A complete woo woo goddess who constantly reinvents herself to be the best version of herself. She coaches, she leads, she empowers women to be financially stable, as well as to love themselves, and to find their true path. I'm currently in a 9 month coaching program with her now.

Glennon Doyle - Reading her book changed the way I was viewing a lot of things in life and gave me the courage to talk about topics I normally stay quiet on bcz I'm worried about offending someone else or saying the wrong thing
